"HOB" aims to unfold the works and thoughts of Chinese artists with overseas educational or professional experiences. These artists drift or have drifted away from mainland China living with multiple cultural backgrounds, but their experiences as expatriates, however, haven't consequently alienated them away from their native culture. To the opposite, their cultural identities are even more emphasized or highlighted as a result of encountering heterogeneous cultural circumstances. Hence the title "Heart Outside of Body" physically detached from the mother culture while spiritually attached to it as ever.

QU Jianxiong will create a new drawing in "de vierkante zaal" and
students from the "Stedelijke academie voor Schone Kunsten"
